University of California, Riverside is located near
several reservations of Cahuilla, Serrano, Chemehuevi,
Luiseņo, Kumeyaay, Cupeņo, and Tongva
Indians. UCR is not just in the right place, UCR is
THE right place for collaborative research with American
Indians. The UCR
connection to American Indians is already strong,
and it is growing stronger everyday. The UCR Center
for California Native Nations will enhance the relationship
between the tribes and the University by fostering programs
of crucial importance to the Native populations and
facilitating the expansion of knowledge of the diverse
cultures in our region.
At UCR, we are actively building interdisciplinary, tribally
responsive research partnerships. These enable the university to fulfill
its mission to serve the public by working with tribes as well as to add purpose
to its teaching and research programs.
